About Safety Data Sheets

A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is a standardised document that provides detailed information about a chemical product, including its composition, hazard classification, safe handling procedures, first aid measures, and disposal requirements.

Under Canada's WHMIS 2015 regulations (aligned with GHS), every hazardous product used in a workplace must have an SDS readily accessible. Fire extinguishers containing chemical agents are classified as controlled products and must meet this requirement.

Each AW Fireguard SDS follows the 16-section GHS format and includes our contact information for product inquiries, refill, and service bookings.

Who needs an SDS on file?

  • Any commercial or industrial workplace with fire extinguishers on site
  • Facilities subject to BC Occupational Health & Safety regulation
  • Strata corporations, building managers, and property owners
  • Restaurants and commercial kitchens required to maintain Class K coverage
  • Properties subject to annual BC Fire Code inspection by the fire marshal
  • Transport carriers required to maintain Transport Canada compliance documentation
